Residents of Kegoye village in Vihiga county are yet to recover from the shock after learning of the deaths of a village couple that has been missing for days.
Mr David Kinambendi and his wife Ruth Mwenesi went missing on Thursday, only to be found dead in different spots on Saturday night.
The incident was confirmed by Waluluma/Lugaga Chief Henry Chunguli.
The chief said that the body of Ruth, 35, was found lying in a pool of blood inside their house while that of 40-year-old David was discovered inside a pit latrine within the compound.
"Someone peeped through their bedroom and saw the body of Mwenesi lying down. We broke in and found her in a pool of blood," Mr Chunguli was quoted by the Standard.
The administrator added that the discovery was made by concerned villagers who have been searching for the duo since they were reported missing.
He said that it is suspected that the man killed the wife before committing suicide by throwing himself into the toilet.
"We suspect he killed his wife and then threw himself into the toilet," he was quoted by the Nation.
He said that the disappearance of the was first reported by the man's father.
