Raila, who is pushing for constitutional amendments, also says that 2020 will see an intensified debate about the proposed changes.

He says that it will be the year when the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will root for constitutional changes as its proposals indicate.

The former Prime Minister said that the country has some serious constitutional issues touching on political matters, which must be sorted out before any other election is held.

"2020 will be the year for the BBI and possibly the year Kenyans will go to a referendum to change the constitution. We can’t talk of 2022 if we have not rectified what happened in 2017," he said.

Raila made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Citizen TV on Friday.

Raila added that his latest political moves are solely aimed at enhancing the well being of  Kenyans and should not be seen those out to victimise people.

Raila also added that his actions have nothing with his close relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I talk about vices and if talking about them makes me the devil, incarnate then. I have been talking about these issues even before the handshake and I won’t change my character just because of the handshake," he added.
