Taking to his Twitter on Thursday, the former presidential candidate argued that Duale's actions are criminal, adding that the move also sabotages the freedom of expression as enshrined in the Constitution.

"@HonAdenDuale's threat to MCAs not to discuss the #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 is criminal and an affront to political rights and freedom of expression constitutionally guaranteed. We want @DCI_Kenya to take action against the threat to lives of MCAs by Duale," tweeted Aukot.

Aukot's appeal comes after Duale who doubles up as Leader of Majority in the National Assembly on Saturday while speaking at Garissa Town promised to 'deal' with MCAs who will discuss the Punguza Mizigo Bill.

"You try passing that Bill when it comes to the Garissa County Assembly and you will have to deal with us as a community. (Wewe jaribu kupitisha hio mswada ikikuja hii Bunge la Garissa alafu wewe utapambana na sisi kama jamii)," Duale said on Saturday.

The Punguza Mizigo Bill which has been submitted to county assemblies if passed will see the number of parliamentary positions reduced.

The women representative positions and the nominated positions at the Senate, National Assembly and County Assemblies will also be scrapped in a bid to reduce the ballooning wage bill.
