In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the MP said that water points would be set up at various points in Ijara for the duration of the census to ensure that nobody is left out of the once-in-ten-years exercise.

She appealed to the residents of her constituency to participate.

"We have also mobilized resources and set up temporary watering points for the pastoralists who move out of the constituency due to the drought, in order for them not to miss this very important National exercise. We are appealing to each and every person from Ijara constituency to come and be counted in Ijara on the nights of 24th and 25th of August 2019.

"We are doing everything in our capacity to make sure our right numbers are captured in the census and we urge the people of Ijara to make maximum efforts to be counted too for the benefit of our nation Kenya and Constituency, " her Facebook post read in part.

Noor also revealed that local chiefs were being engaged to mobilise residents to come out and be counted.

She emphasised the importance of the census, saying that it would help the government yield data that would be crucial in planning and allocation of resources.
