A Kisii business mogul has fired warning shots at COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli for allegedly supporting MPs in the 12th Parliament to pocket millions of shillings in house allowances.
Don Bosco Gichana dismissed Atwoli terming him unfit to continue serving as the COTU boss.
The vocal businessman-cum-politician accused Atwoli of complicity by defending the MPs.
"With due respect to Atwoli, how can he support MPs to hike allowances as COTU boss? He seems to have forgotten that during the Labour Day Celebrations on May 1, 2019, as usual, the government didn't announce an increment for workers," said Bosco.
He wondered why Atwoli could support MPs to hike allowances yet he is supposed to fight for Kenyan workers to have their salaries increased.
"Who is supposed to be given priority when it comes to salary increment, is it workers under COTU or the MPs?" questioned Bosco.
This comes after Atwoli publicly supported MPs for pocketing millions of shillings in allowances last month.
Atwoli defended his decision to support the MPs arguing that the electorate should take the blame for accepting handouts.
At least 416 lawmakers in the 12th Parliament pocketed Sh2.25 million each last month as house allowance.
