The murder suspect of Ivy Wangeci had tried several tricks to win the petite girl's heart but in vain.
Described as obsessed with the medical student, Naftali Kinuthia played several cards to steal her heart but the more he tried, it seems, the more unmoved Wangeci became.
Daily Nation has established that Kinuthia had been showering his crush with expensive gifts in efforts to penetrate her heart.
A close friend of the deceased told the paper that Kinuthia at one point bought the cute girl an expensive perfume.
The gift was delivered to her and inside, there was a love letter where Kinuthia poured his love for her. Wangeci, unfortunately, was not moved an inch by the gesture.
Still crazed by the girl's love, the systems administrator at a Nairobi-based company went ahead and bought her an expensive phone.
"It was an expensive perfume, that is what I remember Wangechi telling me. The phone must have cost about Sh10,000,” the friend, who requested anonymity, told Daily Nation.
While being grilled by police on Wednesday, the cold-hearted suspect said he has been sending the girl cash gifts and felt bad when she ignored him.
He had reportedly sent her Sh14,000 for her birthday bash over the weekend.
The bash would be held on Wednesday, April, 10.
