An earlier statement at Kilimani Police Station, Ms. Maribe, claimed that her fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, was attacked by unknown people outside the gate to their Royal Park Estate in Lang'ata.

But in affidavits sworn by the estranged news anchor, she now claims that Mr. Irungu shot himself at their home deep in the night when he came back from unknown place.

"I had gone to bed by the time he returned. He came to my room crying and telling me he was sorry."

"I told him my child was sleeping and that he should stop making noise lest he woke the child from sleep. He kept crying that 'Jacque I am sorry', but I ignored him."

After some minutes, Maribe stated that Jowie walked to a closet in her house after which she heard a gunshot.

"I jumped out of bed and went to the closet, and found him lying on the floor. Blood was oozing from his upper left chest area," she said.

Both Maribe and Irungu have denied orchastrating Monica's murder and will have their bail application fate determined on October 24th by Justice James Wakiaga.

Ms. Maribe's father, Mwangi Maribe, claimed that his daughter was 'guilty of love but not murder'.
