Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed has weighed in on the alleged assassination plot against Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
Speaking on Saturday in Migori, the legislator called for thorough investigations to be carried out by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
He also hit out at the Deputy President's allies for expressing doubts on the ability of the DCI to carry out conclusive investigations.
"There is a plot to kill the deputy president of Kenya. I used to think we are the only people who can be killed this way. I hear the deputy president wants to die. We are saying this, these claims have to be investigated. (Deputy President ya Kenya ati anataka kuuliwa. Na zamani mimi nilikuwa nafikiri ni sisi tunaweza kuuliwa kienyeji nanna hii. Na nimesikia deputy president anataka kukufa. Sisi tunasema namna hii, lazima ichunguzwe na serikali. Hatutaki deputy president wetu akufe)," said Junet in a YouTube video.
"If that deputy dies, I will feel very bad. I want the deputy president to live. (Kwanza Mimi huyo deputy akikufa Mimi nitaona mbaya sana. Mimi nataka deputy president akae)," he added.
Junet's words come amid a raging national debate about the assassination claims that the DP has not publicly addressed.
