The governor of Kericho County Paul Chepkwony has made a personal commitment to stand with the deputy president Dr William Ruto.
Speaking during a rally in Kericho that was graced by the country's second in command, the county boss said that DP Ruto had provided great leadership to the country.
"This is a performing deputy president and I want to begin by saying as you journey to 2022, your excellency I make a personal commitment that I will stand with you personally, " Governor Chepkwony said.
The deputy president went to Kericho on Saturday and addressed residents in Lilloch and Kapsorok.
DP Ruto is expected to seek the presidency in 2022 having served for two terms as the deputy president under President Uhuru Kenyatta.
His trip to Kericho came one day after President Uhuru convened a high profile meeting with political leaders from the Mount Kenya region in which a bewildering array of issues were discussed.
The Kericho trip is consistent with his strategy of building support for his 2022 presidential ambitions.
Veteran opposition and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has not come out clearly as to whether he will run even though many speculate that he could DP Ruto is the presidential race.
