In a reply to the Nairobi woman rep's salvo at rapper King Kaka, Florence Mutua appealed to Passaris to stay off social media and concentrate on her recovery.

"Hon Esther, kindly can you log off social media for now and concentrate on your health first. You will come back and continue the engagement. For now, I don’t think it’s healthy. Please totally log off. Quick recovery Mama Nai, " the Busia legislator said.

Esther Passaris has been the subject of vicious attacks on social media for posting pictures of herself undergoing treatment at a state-of-the-art health facility in India.

The ODM legislator travelled to India last week for surgery. She angered a section of social media users after she told of one of her critics, saying that she had spent a tune of 50 million shillings in her woman rep bid.

A number of public figures sympathised with her amid the attacks.

One of those who defended her was the Kenya Film Classification Board boss Dr Ezekiel Mutua.

"You know that we are a sick society when people attack @EstherPassaris for posting about her surgery in India. Listen, while we need universal health care, hating on leaders and posting bile does not improve the situation. There're better ways of pushing for better policy, " Dr Ezekiel Mutua said.
