On Sunday, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga was captured on camera being held by his bodyguards off a podium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The former Prime Minister was presenting a trophy to the SportPesa Super Cup final winners Kariobangi Sharks FC who won 1-0 against Bandari FC at the National Stadium.
Just before he finished presenting the trophy, he was seen staggering.
His bodyguards immediately went to action and led him to safety before he could fall down.
Concerned Kenyans and people around the world then rushed in with messages asking about Raila’s health.
Raila later came out to confirm that he is well and thanked those who had shown concern.
“Dear Kenyans and friends from around the globe, I am well and in good health. Thank you for your concern,” he said through his Twitter handle.
Embakasi East Member of Parliament and the former SONU chairman Babu Owino also came out to assure people that Raila was healthy.
“The People's President HE Rt Hon Raila Odinga is very okay, avoid rumors that state otherwise. Baba ako gangari na imara kama Simba!” the controversial legislator said through his Twitter account.
