A section of Kenyans has been angered by Interior Permanent Secretary (PS) Karanja Kibicho for reportedly humiliating a hawker who President Uhuru Kenyatta owed Sh40.
Dennis Murimi caught the public attention on September 1, 2017, when he managed to beat the hawk-eyed GSU officers protecting Uhuru Kenyatta, then campaigning for the presidential seat, and held a talk with him.
Murimi, a hawker, gave Uhuru chewing gums worth Sh40 and the then Jubilee presidential candidate told him ‘utanitafuta’.
In that mission to find President Kenyatta after he won the top seat, Murimi was instead paraded before cameras by Kibicho who grilled in the hawker in a manner a Kenyans on social media feel it was intimidating and embarrassing.
In a video that surfaced online, Kibicho is seen interrogating the hawker who appears cornered.
The PS tells hawker that he will pay Uhuru’s debt so the hawker can stop looking after the President.
He gave the hawker a Sh50 note and demands for a Sh10 change which Murimi gives out.
Netizens expressed their dissatisfaction with how the PS handed the hawker.
