A middle-aged man was found dead on Thursday at Ikobe market in South Mugirango Kisii County.
Confirming the incident area chief Esther Moraa said the deceased is yet to be identified.
"The man doesn't hail from this area and we suspect he was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the market. Members of the public are advised to volunteer information to police about anyone they suspect killed the man," she noted.
Esther said police have already launched investigations to bring the culprits to book.
According to the chief, the body of the deceased had visible stab wounds a clear indication that he engaged in a physical fight with the killers but, unfortunately, they overpowered him.
"The deceased seems to have been killed by more than one person because he had several wounds on his body. His neck was broken also," said the administrator.
She confirmed that the body of the deceased was moved to Nyamache hospital morgue.
"Police will use fingerprints to identify the deceased. Anyone caught in murdering others will face the full force of the law," she added.
