Despite increasing calls to break silence on Governor Okoth Obado's woes, ODM leader Raila Odinga has stayed off the matter.

Mr. Obado, who was elected on ODM ticket, is facing murder charges over the death of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno.

On a phone call to Migori residents on Tuesday, Raila only limited his discussion to Monday's by-election in senatorial seat.

"I urge you to vote for Ayacko because he's committed to our party ideologies. I am convinced he will do a good job.

"Ignore those criticising the party. Do not allow them to our stronghold. I will come on Thursday and Friday and will tell you more," he said.

At Milimani Law Courts last week, a section of Obado's supporters accused the former PM and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed of orchastrating Obado's woes.

Before his arrest, Mr. Obado was leading anti-Ochillo campaigns in Migori, a matter that did not go well with ODM stalwarts.
