Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday issued a statement on President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting with Mt Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge last week.
According to DP Ruto, the meeting was aimed at creating unity and promoting democracy in the Jubilee party.
He maintained this was a step towards healing divisions with the ruling party.
"Pres.UKenyatta's Sagana meeting of leaders of ALL walks cements Jubilee's democratic credentials of engagement, consultations & concensus where every opinion counts unlike the cult where no one matters. We're marching against the prophets of doom attempting division in our party," DP Ruto tweeted.
During the meeting with the Mt. Kenya leaders, President Uhuru addressed various issues including his support for DP Ruto and relationship with opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The President pointed out that he should not be constantly reminded on keeping his promise to support DP Ruto in the 2022 general elections.
He also rubbished claims that he could be planning to endorse ODM boss Raila Odinga for the presidency in 2022.
Following the Friday meeting, political pundits have hailed the President saying he has taken the right step towards healing rifts in his own party and giving direction to leaders from his home turf.
