Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) has issued a stern warning to its Nairobi County Assembly MCAs. This is following the party's determined efforts to see governor Mike Sonko impeached.
This means that Sonko troubles might be far from ending any time soon. His troubles began after his forceful arrest early this month, followed by court arraignment and finally being charged with corruption allegations.
The act saw governor Sonko barred from office following an earlier directive by Mumbi Ngugi that no executive should continue attending office with pending integrity matters.
The pressure being exerted by the ODM MCAs pushing for his removal from office, seem too much for Sonko to escape the axe.
With another plan to paralyze Sonko's ouster attempt, sources have already revealed an intended group to Malindi which was aimed at seeing that the motion did not meet the required thresh hold.
An ODM letter to Nairobi County Assembly minority leader David Mberia, the party had warned its MCAs members against deviating from its position regarding the City Hall crisis. The party threatened some unnamed members with disciplinary acts ranging from de-whipping, suspension or even expulsion should the members keep on contradicting the party's stand at the expense of public resources.
"You are hereby ordered to stand as per the party on the way forward. Please get this that if the affected members do not cease instantly, the party will instil disciplinary actions without further notice," read part of the letter.
The ouster attempt for Sonko has already brought divisions into the party thus lacking a unified stand.
