Kenyan politicians are known to be more cunning than a fox going by the political theatrics that they play both in public and private.

It is public knowledge that a Kenyan politician will do anything good or otherwise provided it guarantees him or her political mileage.

This can be well demonstrated by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who has gained notoriety for recording private phone conversations with other leaders then leaking them to the public with a sole intention of wanting to look 'good'.

And if you think this is idle talk, hardly a week after Sonko leaked a private conversation he had with his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu, the former was seen with Waititu chatting heartily during President Jomo Kenyatta's 40th memorial ceremony at the Kenyatta mausoleum.

While we can't tell what the two were discussing, this just eroded Sonko's so-called 'noble initiative' of exposing corrupt deeds via phone recordings.

If Sonko wanted to be taken seriously, he could at least avoided any public contacts, at least for now, with Waititu. Otherwise, his recent 'fight' against corruption may be interpreted by many sceptical Kenyans as mere publicity stunts.

Or what would you conclude if today you found Sonko sharing a drink with the Mombasa tycoon who was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly trying to bribe him to allow a hotel he is building in Gigiri, Nairobi to go on?
