This comes at a time when two established sides have launched a push for constitutional changes, one led by opposition leader Raila Odinga.

In an interview on Milele FM on Wednesday morning, Kabogo threw his weight behind the push to reduce elective seats, as is proposed by the Ekuru Aukot-led Third Way Alliance party.

He stressed on the need for the country to only retain a manageable size of elected leaders, terming the current structure as too expensive to sustain.

'‘Tunahitaji sana mabadiliko ya katiba maana hatuhitaji hawa viongozi wote. Tulete katiba tunayoweza kuikidhi (let us change the constitution to ease the burden of over-representation. We need an affordable system),’’ he advised.

On the other hand, he poked holes into the proposal by Odinga’s side, which is seeking to introduce more executive slots.

Though Odinga’s allies have endorsed the proposal as the best remedy for the political and developmental exclusion and recurrent after-election wrangles, Kabogo argues the proposal is aimed at benefiting specific individuals.

‘’Hatuwezi ongeza viti ili kutosheleza watu fulani. Kila tunachofanya kiwe kinakusudia kumsaidia mkenya (let it be all about Kenyans and not individual politicians),’’ he added.
