Residents of Kionduso area in Kisii County are mourning the death of a man who was killed by suspected thugs, suspected to have been after the money he had been given from selling land.
The body of the deceased identified as Jacob Makori was found dumped by the roadside 50 meters from his homestead on Monday morning.
Locals said Jacob sold a piece of his land to build a house but, he met his death before he could spend the money.
"The late was killed while he was returning from a local bar to his home. The killers stole an unknown amount of money from him, which he was given from selling land on Sunday," said Mark Nyangaresi.
Area assistant chief, Simon Ogutu said he was informed by passersby who spotted the body lying on the roadside.
"It is unfortunate that Jacob was killed because of money he sold his land. A probe is ongoing to nab the culprits," he said.
He called on locals to cooperate to ensure the killers are brought to book.
"The deceased body was taken to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital morgue," said the administrator.
