Tenwek Mission Hospital has entered into a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Kenya National Union of Nurses meant to regulate terms and conditions of service for employees who are in employment with the facility.
The CBA includes those joining as employees of Tenwek Hospital who will be members of the union and shall be in force for a period of four financial years.
Under the CBA agreement that was signed on Monday at the Kenya Federation of employers’ Nakuru branch offices, no serving nurse at the facility shall have his or her terms of service altered.
Addressing media after signing the agreement, Kenya National Union of Nurses’ Secretary General Seth Panyako, called on the government to start allocating funds to the Mission health facilities.
“We know the role that Mission hospitals and private health facilities play in this country and that is why we are saying the government should also start allocating funds towards the same. As a union, we shall give our best,” said Panyako.
Tenwek Mission Hospital CEO Geoffrey Lang’at thanked the Kenya National Union of Nurses for signing the agreement.
“We thank the union so much for being understanding and agreeing to enter into an agreement with us. We look forward to working with them in ensuring better welfare for the employees,” said the CEO.
