The gruesome murder of Ivy Wangeci, a Moi University medical student, shocked the nation to the core.
Ivy was a bubbly girl set to graduate on December this year with a degree in Medicine.
The girl, who was killed by her spurned lover, was turning 25 on April 10 – a day after her murder.
Her colleagues at the School of Medicine, however, went ahead and held a birthday for their fallen classmates.
Rose flowers, candles and Ivy’s close-up photo were placed at the entrance of the hostel she lived in as classmates wrote eulogies to her.
“You were cute. You had brains. You are one girl I have met who could not put up with mediocrity. Shine on your way daktari Ivy,” Maurice Apior eulogized her.
A friend of the deceased said she had shared with him scanty details of how her big day would go down, unfortunately, a man plucked the life out of her.
Naftali Njahi, who hacked her to death, told police he was angered after the girl refused to talk to him despite having sent her Sh14, 000 to organize her birthday bash.
The claim has however not been verified.
