Johnson was part of early morning milk round when he was unexpectedly confronted by an ITV reporter.

The reporter was there to follow up on Conservative premier's promise to talk to Piers Morgan, one of the world's most revered journalists known for his hard-hitting interviewing style.

“I’ll be with you in a second,” the Prime Minister said and disappeared into a large fridge as quoted by the Independent.

The development comes amid blistering criticism of Johnson who has faced accusations of avoiding the scrutiny of the British media.

He has refused to have a sit down with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) television show host Andrew Neil, another vicious interviewer.

Piers Morgan tweeted after the incident, accusing the UK leader of cowardice.

"Cowardice is never a good look, " Piers Morgan tweeted as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

Johnson's aide reportedly swore at the reporter who sought an audience with the prime minister.

The incident comes just days after Boris Johnson took the phone of another reporter and put it in his pocket in a bid to avoid seeing a picture of a sickly child on the floor.
