A section of activists led by Migori MCA Susan Mohabe has started a campaign against a police officer accused of defiling his 12-year-old daughter.
The officer is alleged to have committed the offence on November 1, 2019, after the minor went home to collect school fees.
It is alleged that the girl was attacked by her father as she was washing dishes.
The accused, however, walked away scot-free as no action has ever been taken against him.
Mohabe, who is the Nyamosense/Komosko MCA, noted that efforts to get justice for the schoolgirl have been rendered futile as the accused allegedly enjoys protection from fellow officers in Kuria West.
The MCA argued that she suspects there's a plan to cover up the crime as the victim was held for six days at Isebania Police Station after the incident.
Mohabe claimed that the victim was held in a plot to interfere with evidence which would have been used in court.
"Why was the girl detained for six days at Isebania Police Station after the ordeal. This was a ploy to interfere with evidence which would be crucial for the cases in court,” Mohabe noted.
Kuria West OCPD Bernard Muriuki stated that the case didn't commence as it lacked tangible evidence as indicated by the letter written by the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in the region.
Muriuki, however, assured residents that justice for the minor would be served.
