This follows the emergence of a leaked video showing the opposition MP slapping Maurice Ochieng Oduor at Biashara Market in Kisumu County on Tuesday noon.

In the video, Odhiambo who is accompanied by his aides is heard accusing Oduor of claiming that he had been arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC).

The incident was confirmed by Kisumu County Commander Benson Mweu, who confirmed that the MP recorded a statement and is set for future dates with investigators.

"They recorded statements and the MP has been asked to report back to the Di-rector of Criminal Investigations officer on June 17,” said the police boss, according to the Nation.

Oduor claimed that he pulled down the post moments after he uploaded it on Facebook, following threats and criticisms from Elisha's supporters who accused him of lying.

Oduor said that he posted after seeing Elisha  at the EACC offices, while he (Elisha) was accompanying Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo for questioning.

"I posted both cases on Facebook informing my followers on the happenings in Kisumu, only to get calls laced with threats from mheshimiwa’s supporters demanding to know why I was spoiling the name of the MP,” he said.

He added that the MP's aides held him as the lawmaker struck him with slaps and blows.

This comes at a time when police in Homa Bay county are searching for Kabondo MP Ongondo Were who is also accused of sending a gang to attack a teacher at a hotel in Oyugis.
