Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has asked politicians to stop politicising the recent appointment of Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang'i as the chairperson for the newly created National Development Implementation and Communication Committee.
Duale says that Matiang'i's promotion is normal and there is nothing hidden in it as some politicians are speculating.
Speaking in Garissa Town on Saturday when he presided over a graduation ceremony at NEP College of Health Sciences, Duale said that CS Matiang'i deserves the appointment.
The Garissa MP asked politicians to stop dragging 2022 politics into the appointment.
“There is nothing strange in Matiangi's new role and he should be given space to do his work without a lot of questioning,” he said.
Duale urged politicians to support CS Matiang'i in his added roles.
The Garissa lawmaker said that the Jubilee government is determined to deliver on the pledges it made to Kenyans.
Duale further rubbished claims of bad blood between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
He asked Kenyans to ignore propagandists and support the Jubilee government development agenda.
Last week, President Kenyatta appointed CS Matiang'i as the chairperson for the newly created National Development Implementation and Communication Committee.
In his added new role, CS Matiang'i will supervise and coordinate all government projects.
The Interior CS will directly report to President Kenyatta.
Some political analysts argue that CS Matiang'i new role is a blow to DP Ruto.
They claim that the appointment could hinder the DP's political prospects.
