As he warms up for his first ever presidential stab in the approaching 2022 general elections, Deputy President William Ruto should develop a thick skin as early as now, as what he is set for is no joke.
He will be accused of everything by forces keen on thwarting his bid.
Ruto should as well expect voices of dissent from his own camp with regards to the heated lifestyle audit issue, especially now that a section of his allies have remained opposed to the audit.
Also coming his way are new friends, some real and committed to his candidature and others sent by his opposer's to spy on him and leak out his strategies in an attempt to counter him.
Some of these things are already happening, with leaders and former political critics throwing themselves at him in support of his bid with the best instance being the Coast-based politicians who have since pledged allegiance.
Also set to leave him are some of his millions which will go down in his campaigns. He will have to dig deep in his pockets to fund his movement as he crisscrosses the nation in search of the votes.
He must be prepared for a hard and tough job ahead, several sleepless nights as he works to actualise his dream of running Kenya as the head of state from 2022.
Most important is that the DP should be ready for a mega disappointment and an alternative plan, in case President Uhuru Kenyatta changes his mind and decides to support someone else for the presidency in 2022.
