As such, the county boss Muthomi Njuki pledged to donate Sh1 million towards repairs as well as the construction of new washrooms.

On Wednesday, Interior and Education ministry officers ordered Grade One to Grade Six learners to vacate the school after their classes had developed huge cracks.

Fred Masinjira, Deputy County Commissioner for Igambang'ombe lamented the looming dangers, should the structures come down tumbling. He argued that repairs would have been undertaken while learners were away for December vacations.

The governor vowed together with his administration to fully support infrastructures in all schools, ensuring safety for the learners as they learn without interruptions. In as much as Early Childhood Development Education is a devolved thing, we won't risk learners' lives under dilapidated structures.

"My government will work closely with members of parliament in our three constituencies and other education stakeholders in making sure schools have safe buildings," the governor stated on Saturday.

Speaking at Nkio primary school yesterday, where he launched a new classroom, the county boss also pointed out how the county had constructed ECDE classes almost on all schools in addition to equipping them.

He also called upon proper consultations for all those involved before any closure is effected for any school. He noted how the county education director Bridget Wambua ordered resumption for Kangutu pupils after alleged lack of consultations.

The governor also ordered politicians to be stopped by authorities from ruining education, adding how his government had taken up the matter, only to hear about the closure before works begun.

"Officers from the department of public health and public works inspected late last year and recommended repairs. Some officers rushed to close the school while renovation plans were being made," said governor Njuki.
