Ms. Otieno's lifeless body was reportedly retrieved from Kodera forest in Homa Bay on Tuesday night before being taken to Oyugi Level Four Hospital.

In the scandal, which journalist Barrack Oduor was investigating, Sharon had accused a powerful politician of impregnating her and failing to take responsibility.

According to Oduor, who would later escape death by jumping out of their abductors vehicle, Mr. Michael Oyamo had lured them to Grace Hotel in Rongo to discuss the matter.

Before that, Oyamo had suggested to meet them at Rodi Kopany, a venue he'd change later under unclear circumstances.

Nyanza top detective Michael Baraza says Oyamo, who was arrested on Tuesday, is the chief suspect in the mysterious murder.

“The body was moved to the mortuary where her parents identified her. We are following up the case professionally,” he said.

He added: "Of course the PA is the chief suspect and we shall follow up the matter."

Leaders have condemned the murder of the Medical Records second year student with Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga calling for expeditious investigations.

"It is quite sad that a young lady that Sharon could be killed for nothing. Those behind it however powerful they are must be punished."

Conspiracy theorists have linked the slain student to a romantic relationship with the ODM governor even though information surrounding her mysterious death remains scanty.
