Deputy President William Ruto has once again hit out at opposition leader Raila Odinga, in a continuation of their recently revived political hostility.
Speaking in Murang'a County on Monday, the DP accused Raila of being a perennial liar out to peddle lies with the intention of derailing him (Ruto), his future plans and the government.
He dismissed the former prime minister's recent claims that Pope Francis advised Kisumu Archbishop Philip Anyolo to return a gift he (Ruto) gave him in January.
Ruto also took issue with Raila's interference in the heating Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal which he has liked the DP, telling him to take responsibility for the Sh 21 billion that has allegedly been lost.
"This is someone who cannot be trusted. He was fighting Northern Water Collector Tunnel, said funds had been lost in Eurobond and now he is telling us that he talked to the Pope (Francis),” said Ruto as quoted by the Standard.
The DP was speaking during the funeral service for Margaret Wangeci, mother to area Senator Irungu Kang'ata at St Joseph The Worker Catholic Church.
Ruto said contrary to what is being said by the detractors of the Jubilee government, the Uhuru-led administration is on course to deliver its campaign promises.
“As an assistant to the President, we are on course to achieve what we promised Kenyans during our election,” he added.
