Ndambiri and Mwea lawmaker Kabinga Wathayu clashed at Riandira Primary School during Mashujaa Day celebrations over the Sh15 billion Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri) project in the county.

Trouble began when the MP, addressing the public accused the county of failing to hand over the 100-acre land to Kemri for the job to begin.

He heaped the blame on governor Ann Waiguru's leadership, adding that he will give his all towards ensuring that the project, set for Wamumu in his constituency, is realized.

"Let the government be informed that I will die fighting for the rights of residents. It must give the crucial land documents to Kemri," Wathayu said as quoted by Daily Nation.

But Ndambiri sought to clear the county, saying that Kemri has refused to sign an agreement with them to be issued with the title deed, which is yet to happen.

"Kemri is not willing to enter into an agreement with Governor Waiguru's administration. That is why the title deed hasn't been handed over to it," he said.

Local Jubilee Party Vice-Chair Mureithi Kangara threw his weight behind the county, questioning the reason behind Kemri's refusal to sign the agreement.

The project also includes a level five hospital, a medical supplies factory, and a medical research centre.
