Residents of Mwamoriango village, Nyaribari Masaba are yet to come to terms following the death of a man on Wednesday evening after taking excessive alcohol.

Area assistant chief David Mabeya said Richard Moikoyo, a local veterinary officer, was returning home when he fell into a ditch.

"Moikoyo crossed the road but he fell into a ditch moments later. He was found dead by his wife who had gone to close the get," said the administrator.

The administrator said members of the public responded to the screams made by the deceased' wife. 

The chief warned residents against drinking in excess arguing that the sale of illicit brew will not be tolerated.

"Police officers from Kisii picked the body and took it to RAM hospital in Kisii. Residents who have ventured into alcoholism need to amend their ways before they meet death," said the chief. 

He added that villagers should pray for the family and offer necessary support where possible during this trying moments.
