Acting Nairobi County Secretary Leboo Morintat has assumed the roles of embattled governor Governor Mike Sonko at City Hall after he was blocked from accessing his office over the alleged loss of Sh357 million.
Leboo, on Wednesday, chaired the cabinet meeting as they seek to stream delivering pending the determination of the fate of Sonko’s nominee for the post of the Deputy Governor Anne Kananu Mwenda.
The executive discussed a wide range of issues including how they are going to attain Sh14 billion revenue target by June this year. Leboo said he had opted to step in for the county boss to ensure that there is no crisis that could affect the delivery of services at City Hall.
He also said that they looked at some of the challenges that the county has been facing as far as revenue collection is concerned as well as their solutions.
“The meeting set out to achieve the agendas for this year and create a blueprint of how to ensure efficient service delivery to city residents. We also took stock of 2019 and recommended solutions for some of the challenges we’ve experienced so far,” he said.
Sonko’s appointment of Deputy Governor hangs in balance after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji said that he will move to court to protest the decision of the county boss.
Haji now wants the bail granted to Sonko cancelled after he pulled the move. He has accused him over violating the bail terms and wants action taken against him with immediate effect after the nomination of the DG.
