With wrangling rocking Taita Taveta County pitting Governor Granton Samboja and Members of the County Assembly, Kalonzo may be out to lose the county chief.

According to a report by the Standard, the fact that Samboja went to seek Raila's guidance on the way forward amid the impasse that has paralyzed county operations, perhaps is a tale-tell sign that he may be keen to secure his political future away from Wiper amid Kalonzo's silence over the matter.

While speaking last week when he met Raila, Samboja suggested that the County should be dissolved, paving way for a fresh election for all elected leaders from the troubled devolved unit.

According to the sources that spoke to the Standard, the county boss may officially ditch Wiper in the coming days and that his meeting with the former Prime Minister last week was meant to get an assurance that the ODM party will give him a direct ticket to contest for the seat should the county be dissolved.

Should Samboja take that move, it will be a major blow for Kalonzo and his party ahead of the 2022 election where the former Vice President is keen to make a stab at the Presidency.
