Attorney General (AG) Paul Kihara Kariuki has opened a social justice center in Lamu.
Kihara opened the center on Friday in presence of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji and Haki Africa.
The center will enable residents report cases of injustices by the police.
It will also help Lamu residents monitor their cases in court and receive legal aid.
Kihara urged residents to take advantage of the center and raise their concerns with agencies in the justice sector.
He said the government is keen on championing human rights especially the accused persons and witnesses.
"We are determined to protect the rights of every Kenyan as provided for in the constitution," Kihara said.
DPP Haji on his part promised to follow up on cases extrajudicial killings.
He said his office is determined to put to end extrajudicial killings and brutality by the police.
"Police officers must work professionally and be ready to exit the service if they engage in rogue activities," the DPP said.
Haji said that several police officers are facing cases in court related to brutality.
Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti on his part vowed to fish out rogue officers.
Kinoti said that the national police service will not allow rogue officers to taint the image of the police.
Human rights activists claim that Lamu is among counties where cases of police brutality are on the rise.
