A caretaker of Lamuria Garden apartments where the late businesswoman Monica Kimani was found dead appeared before the court on Wednesday as a witness in the murder case.
The caretaker Regan Buluku narrated to the court how he together with the brother of the late Monica Kimani were forced to break into the house and the state that they found the body of the deceased in.
According to the caretaker, Monica Kimani's brother George Kimani arrived at the apartment in the afternoon while looking for her after he had tried contacting his sister to no success.
He told the court that Monica Kimani's phone was ringing when they called her but went off after some time.
Before gaining forceful entry into the house, they peeped and saw that the lights and the television were on. They there broke into the house and that is when they were met with the horrifying scene of Monica Kimani's death.
“I immediately called the security manager, who informed the police,” Buluku said as quoted by Nation.
He further confirmed to state counsel Gikui Wangui that a small yellow bag was found hanging from the lock of the main door and that empty utensils and beer bottles were also found on the table in the living room.
The caretaker admitted that the CCTV at the apartment was not functional at the time the incident took place.
