Speaking after the KNUT officials pledged to chart a common course on Thursday, Francis Atwoli impressed upon the union leaders the need not to allow their differences not to stand in the way of the teachers across the country,

He called for them to be united for the good of the thousands of teachers who are members of the union.

"Solidarity is the most important thing in what you want to do. Stand together, you stay together, you work together and when the majority of the lives of the members of the teaching fraternity is threatened this is the time when the union is ought to come together, " the COTU secretary general said. (1:17-1:35)

KNUT officials engaged in a long period of disagreements that threatened to plunge the union into a state of paralysis.

Media reports indicated that Wilson Sossion was not seeing eye to eye with other officials and it had to take the intervention of the trade union boss to bring them together.

Wilson Sossion was deregistered as a teacher by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) over his involvement in politics.
