Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has reiterated that no child who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), will be left behind in the 100 percent program that the government has rolled out.
Speaking on Monday, the tough-talking CS advised students whose financial situation cannot allow them to join boarding schools, to make a point of joining public day schools.
He said public day secondary schools are absolutely free.
"Every student who sat for KCPE should transition to secondary school and those who are economically challenged walk to the nearest day secondary school where education is free," he said.
"The government is providing free day secondary school, and therefore any child who still has not gone to the school, should actually go to the nearest day secondary school to his or her home. That child must not and shall not be returned home because of things like lunch money," he added.
Under the flagship 100 percent transition program, students should be admitted to schools regardless of their financial background.
The media has been awash with stories of parents being sent away from schools, over failure to make some payments in spite of the order by Ministry of Education that they should be granted admission.
Thousands of pupils sat for the 2019 KCPE examinations and their results were released in the same year.
CS Magoha has been moving across the country to ensure that the 100 percent policy is being implemented by schools in the counties.
