Speaking on Sunday during a mass that was graced by the DP himself, Embu Catholic Bishop Rt Rev Paul Kariuki called on Ruto not to be cowed by the criticism.

The priest hit out at those criticising Ruto's trips, saying that their criticism was misguided.

"Ruto is like a bee, he is working, others are like flies. They are looking for rotting places, saying that he is roaming the country, blind to what he has done. Mr Deputy President, continue roaming the country ("DP @WilliamsRuto... ni kama Nyuki, anafanya Kazi, wengine ni kama nzi. Wanatafuta mahali pameoza, Wanasema anatangatanga...hawaoni kazi anafanya... Bwana Deputy President...endelea Kutangatanga...," Kariuki said in a video shared on Twitter.

The DP's critics contend that his numerous trips across the country are made in defiance of the president's call for politicians to work for Kenyans instead of engaging in politics.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has in many public functions urged politicians to wait for 2022 to engage in politics.

DP Ruto has long claimed, in a bid to defend himself, that his trips are not in any way aimed at advancing a political agenda but aimed at monitoring development projects of the Jubilee administration.
