Nuts are great snacks loved by many. They can be eaten in the morning, at lunchtime or in the evening.
Despite their delicious taste, some nuts are not good for your health. Here are five nuts that you should stop eating.
1. Bitter almonds
Almonds are tasty, but you are advised to stop consuming raw bitter almonds.
Raw almonds have cyanide. However, if prepared well, they are cyanide-free and can be used for flavouring meals or generally as spices.
The hydrocyanic acid in them is eliminated through heating.
2. Peanuts
Peanuts are loved around the world. Unfortunately, a single serving has excess calories besides it having some vitamins and nutrients.
If you plan to eat other foods rich in calories, avoid peanuts. Additionally, they can be contaminated with aflatoxins.
3. Pine nuts
The pine nut syndrome makes these nuts worth handling with care. To avoid a metallic, bitter or rancid taste for days, avoid them.
4. Horse chestnuts
Chestnuts are good for your health. However, make sure that you never consume horse chestnuts.
These nuts are intoxicated and can cause vomiting or paralysis if taken in large amounts.
5. Macadamia nuts
For those planning to control their weight, macadamia nuts should not be part of your diet. They contain excess calories.
