The Uasin Gishu County Assembly has rejected the list of all nominees for County Alcoholics Drinks Control Board.
While rejecting the five nominees, Members of County Assembly (MCAs) further issued a warning to the County Public Service Board.
They said they will not rubber stamp shoddy work from the board.
Assembly’s chairman of the Health Committee Hosea Some led other MCAs in rejecting the list and lashed out at the board for forwarding the names of nominees without required mandatory documents like clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as captured in Chapter six of Constitution on integrity.
Langas MCA Francis Muya while supporting the rejection of the nominees said, “the board is failing the governor by not doing due diligence.”
The list of nominees rejected by the Assembly consist of Josephine Tarus who was to represent Civil Society Carolyne Sang (Public Health Professionals), Joseph Odhiambo (Youth), Philip Rono (Religious Group) and Elijah Matelong who had been nominated to represent education in the board.
The Joseph Tanui-led County Public Service Board will now have to begin afresh the nomination process for the County Alcoholics Drinks Control Board.
