There has been a lot of talk after Nairobi governor Mike Sonko airlifted former Female Boxer Conjestina Achieng to Nairobi for treatment.
The governor gave instructions to the Nairobi Sports Management Board to admit her after it became evident that she was doing badly in her home.
However, the question many are asking is, where were the other authorities?
It should be remembered that Conjestina served Kenya at boxing tournaments where she bagged several awards.
Conjestina did not represent Nairobi; she represented the national government that has since left her in the dark.
When the government leaves such an icon to languish in a state of helplessness, it means that the country does not take sports and sportspeople seriously.
