Kesses MP Dr Swarup Mishra on Friday distributed Uwezo Fund cheques worth Sh1.9 million to women and youths in his constituency.
According to the Kesses MP, the money is meant to empower them financially and improve their livelihoods.
“Uwezo Fund is a flagship program for vision 2030 aimed at enabling women, youth and persons with disability access finances to promote businesses and enterprises at the constituency level,” said the Kesses MP.
He reiterated that the money was given to 15 groups selected from all the wards in the constituency and that his administration will ensure every single cent is put into good use.
Mishra spoke at the Kesses constituency office in Kenmossa on Friday.
“My aim is to enhance economic growth towards the realization of the Millennium Development Goals. I believe our youth and women are very particular on achieving the target and profit and they give money on time,” added Dr Mishra.
The Kesses legislator urged the beneficiaries to manage the funds well to empower them in becoming self-reliant.
