Police have commenced investigations into a case where a man was reportedly shot eight times during a robbery at an M-Pesa shop in Kasarani.
Richard Muema, the victim, is receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital after one of the robbers opened fire at him during the incident.
In a tweet on Saturday evening, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) urged members of the public who might have any information regarding the incident, to come forward and help in the investigation.
"Good evening @ItsMutai. Thank you for sharing this with us. Detectives have already commenced investigations into this matter with the ultimate aim of bringing all those involved to book. Any person with any information about their identity can contact DCI Kasarani or direct message us," DCI tweeted on Saturday night.
According to a CCTV footage shared by Citizen TV, two armed robbers entered the shop at around 10:30 pm.
Shortly after entering the shop, one of the robbers flashed out his gun and ordered Muema to get on the ground, before proceeding to address the shopkeeper.
Muema obeyed the instruction from the robber, but after a few minutes, he stood up and attacked the robber from behind.
It is during the attack that the robber began shooting continuously at Muema, who ran out of the shop immediately after hitting the thug from behind. Unfortunately for Muema, the thug went after him.
Reports on Citizen TV indicate Muema has undergone surgery to remove the bullets.
