The Nakuru High Court has ordered a mental assessment to be conducted on two prison wardens suspected to be behind the murder of their colleague.
Justice Janet Mulwa directed that Raymond Kiplimo and Joseph Kairu be taken for mental assessment before they can take plea.
She further ordered that the two be remanded at the Nakuru Central Police Station until their next appearance in court.
The two, Raymond Kiplimo and Joseph Kairu appeared in court but did not respond to the charges of killing Caroline Jepchirchir Chesire who was attached to the Nakuru Women GK prisons.
The prosecution had urged the court to remand the two at the Naivasha Maximum prison stating that the two, being former employees at the facility were likely to tamper with the witnesses.
They were arrested by police after the body of the deceased was found dumped at Githioro thickets in Subukia, Nakuru County, on April 10.Ms.
Jepchirchir had been reported missing on April 2 before being found murdered about a week later with injuries on the head and chest, with the post-mortem examination revealing that she was strangled and suffocated to death.
The matter will be mentioned on May 13 for plea and bond application.
