Ezra Chiloba was on Friday dismissed as the CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC).
In a statement he posted on his Twitter account, Chiloba said that his employer had terminated his job for his failure to appear before the disciplinary committee of the commission.
"I received the employment termination letter signed by the chairman about an hour ago. The letter claims that I had twice been invited to appear before the disciplinary committee of the commission, but failed to show up, hence the decision to terminate my employment," read the statement.
But before his untimely sacking at the commission, Ezra Chiloba had a piece of advice to the next CEO of the commission after admitting he wouldn’t like to preside over the general election over and over.
“You got no friends in town so just do your job. Since it’s a political process, it doesn’t matter how long it takes just stick to the rules. Also, never ever receive praise from a politician because they’ll abandon you the next day. A politician doesn’t love you, there’s nothing like that. Its self-interest,” said Ezra as quoted during an exclusive interview with the Information Cradle back in September.
Ezra seems to have predicted his fate at the commission long before, and it would be prudent if his successor would consider his advice if he or she wishes to stay longer.
