Many expected Kipchoge's name to be among those to be awarded by during the ceremony but were surprised by the omission. 

Kipchoge has had a wonderful year overall, having won different races as well as setting a new World Marathon record. 

He was recently recognized as the IAAF Male Athlete of the Year, further cementing his name as the greatest marathoner to ever walk on this world.
