In an exclusive interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in Washington, Uhuru directly responded to the outspoken Kapseret MP.

The president said that he was not afraid of investigations into how his father acquired his wealth as he would emerge confident after the investigations.

"That's perfect. We can even go back to my grandfather, to my great-grandfather. No problem," President Uhuru Kenyatta said.

Uhuru's words came in the wake of a renewed onslaught on corruption by his administration that has seen high profile individuals arrested over alleged corruption.

The lifestyle audit was the president's idea of how to deal with the problem of corruption that has enfeebled Kenya's institutions and jeopardised the economy.
