The DP on Monday claimed that some top state officials have been planning to eliminate him, at the helm of the team being four Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region.

Ruto is said to have become suspicious following the emergence of a letter, purportedly written by a member of the cabinet, and addressed to the president with the information.

However, the police have failed to ascertain the legality of the letter, and are now looking at possibilities that it was forged by people close to the DP for political purposes.

It had also been established that the letter never reached the State House, reports the Nation.

Among those being seen as possible suspects are bloggers and cling-ons, who police believe might have done it with the intention of driving a narrative that Ruto's life is in danger.

Meanwhile, the DP has remained silent on the issue, with attempts by journalists to push him to address the matter on Thursday being met with rejection and silence.

Also silent on the issue is Uhuru, at a time when the DP has been seen moving around with an enhanced security detail.

Among those implicated in the alleged plot are four Cabinet Secretaries, principal secretaries and parastatal chiefs from the Mt Kenya region.
