Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has requested for a regular cancer screening and testing exercise across the country.
Joho has also eulogised the late Governor Joyce Laboso as a champion of devolution and a wonderful human being.
On behalf of his government and his family, Joho has expressed profound sadness over the passing on of Bomet County Governor Joyce Laboso.
Laboso died on Monday while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital at the age of 59.
Through his official Facebook page, Joho extended his deepest condolences to both Labaso's family and friends.
More so, Joho requested the county to have a national focus on measures that will see Kenyans be subjected to regular screening, testing and management of various types of cancer.
The governor expressed his concerns on how the disease is claiming the life of Kenyans regardless of their class.
"At this point, I also wish to request for a renewed national focus on the policy and infrastructure related to the screening, testing and management of various types of cancer. The condition has been devastating to Kenyans from all walks of life," read Joho's post in part.
Laboso died on Monday afternoon, about two weeks after she landed back to the country on July 14 after she spent time on a medical trip to India and the United Kingdom.
