The elders on Tuesday said that leaders from the community are expected to unite the community and educate it on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report during this festive season.

The national chairman Wachira Kiago said that they are not happy with the actions of some of the leaders allied to the second in command.

He said that they want leaders to fully support the President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amolo Odinga as they seek to unite the nation.

A representative of elders in Uasin Gishu Peter Karanja said Kimani has been dividing the community. He asked the lawmaker to desist from the same with immediate effect for the sake of the peace of this nation.

"Kimani Ngunjiri has no right to create a ceremony which has not been sanctioned by the elders and he should stop conflicting the Kikuyu community in his political interests," said Karanja.

The elders said that they are fully behind the report and they want politicians to lead by example. They went ahead to fault the leaders in Ruto’s camp for throwing jabs at Uhuru and Raila since the launch of the report.
